    Hi Gurbir,

Just a quick note to express my appreciation for the work you put into producing this podcast on a weekly basis. It’s good to hear a “locally produced” podcast … I think you’ve pitched the content and technical level just right and provide a different yet informative perspective on our shared interest. Well Done! I’ll put link to you on the SCASTRO website when I update it later on this week.

Best regards and keep up the good work.

    William

As a keen amateur astronomer I am upset about plans that have been submitted by globe architects to erect 6 x 8m floodlight poles with 12 lights in total adjacent to my rear garden on Beaver Close Sheffield South Yorkshire.

Handsworth Grange Sports College are planning on turning the school tennis courts into a multi use all weather pitch complete with floodlights to be used Monday to Friday until 2200 hours each evening, and at other times during the weekend.

The proposed development is totally unsuitable being in the middle of a residential area with properties a matter of yards away.

I am seeking the support of your astronomer group and members in opposing the plans on grounds of light pollution and the effects on the night sky.
Floodlights switched on until 2200 hours each night gives no consideration to neighbours and the environment and astronomers.

Your support would be much appreciated.

    Yours Faithfully

Wow. A UK based astronomy podcast. I’ve been an avid listener of the Jodcast for many years now, and a few others.. Astronomycast, quirks and ABC’s StarStuff.. but must have missed your show.

I caught wind of it from astronomy.fm. I am looking forward to listening to your back catalogue. I enjoyed your Ptolomy show last night.

    Keep up the great work!
